Relational justice refers to a transformative justice framework that works from and deconstructs existing power dynamics in order to envision a more just and equitable society. It addresses not only the structural power dynamics of oppression (including race, gender, and class), but also interpersonal and intrapersonal dynamics of power that inform our lived experiences and shape our identities. Unlike a punitive approach to justice, relational justice is rooted in values of caring, accountability, and understanding. It seeks to shift away from control, autonomy and compliance, instead fostering radical relationality to create conditions of equality and solidarity.
